Electricians in Action: See Them at the 2008 NECA Show

Construction professionals who want to watch the best electricians in the industry demonstrate their skills will have a special opportunity to do so at the 2008 NECA Show. The solar PV installation demo promises to be a crowd-pleaser!

Local 11 from the Los Angeles area will showcase its solar photovoltaics (PV) skills and knowledge through hands-on training displays and guided tours on the Show floor. The area will include stations for PV-related topics, including energy efficiency, siting evaluation, system sizing; string sizing; monitoring and metering, PV module interconnection; PV module testing and trouble-shooting, rack assembly and roof mounting; ballast and anchored systems, industrial commercial/residential inverter wiring, and system testing and operation; system startup and trouble-shooting.

Chicago’s own Local 134 will host the IBEW-NECA Technical Institute, a hands-on demonstration area on the Show floor. Apprentices will demonstrate conduit bending techniques in residential and commercial applications. The area will also feature the latest methods and technologies used in the construction, residential, and communications apprenticeship programs.

In Chicago: A Hint for Getting To and From McCormick Place

In an effort to encourage carpooling for energy consumption, shared cab transportation options available at McCormick Place allow visitors to pay a flat per-person fare to area hotels, restaurants and other attractions. This program covers an area within these downtown boundaries: Roosevelt Road on the south, North Avenue on the north, Halsted Street on the west and Lake Michigan on the east.

Shared rides are available until two hours before an exhibit closes. The taxi starter or McCormick Place security personnel will provide assistance to your event guests, facilitating a quick and simple commute around the city.
