NJATC Leading Special Pre-Convention Workshop

The National Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (NJATC) has delivered exceptional apprentice education for more than 70 years. This year, the NJATC is bringing their experience to NECA 2008 Chicago and hosting a special workshop just for electrical contractors.

Business Development Opportunities in the Solar PV Market, Friday, Oct. 3, from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., will include an overview of photovoltaic (PV) systems and equipment; markets and applications; customer development and site surveys; requirements for contracting and installing PV systems; how to take advantage of financial incentives and achieve industry certifications; and other resources helpful in seizing opportunities and becoming successfully engaged in this emerging technology. Two industry training partners, Sharp Solar and Sunwize, will assist NJATC instructors in this course. Training partners will discuss the resources needed, scheduling and ordering requirements. Exhibitors at the 2008 NECA Show will present hands-on technical workshops daily. These 50-minute interactive sessions give attendees the chance to learn more about installation, the capabilities of electrical products, software and business services.

Dr. James Miller will present Fuel Cells: Real World Use, Tues., Oct. 7 at 12:30 p.m. on how fuel cells are part of the power reliability equation that concerns building owners and facility managers now more than ever. This presentation will provide a quick review of fuel cell basics, information about commercially available fuel cell products and examples of real-world use today. Kentucky Thunder Joins Bruce Hornsby and Ricky Skaggs for Closing Celebration

NECA convention-goers will have a special treat when the all-star bluegrass lineup from Kentucky Thunder joins Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby on stage for the Closing Celebration, Oct. 7 at Arie Crown Theater. Kentucky Thunder is compromised of the talented musicians who have most recently accompanied Skaggs, and together the band “draws from deep roots in mountain music - adding piano and Hornsby's inimitable songwriting to the core bluegrass lineup of mandolin, guitar, bass, fiddle, and banjo.”
